Ash Crossan from Screen Rant commended the actor's vocal performance, stating, “Although the narrative may be somewhat disjointed, #SnowWhite is genuinely delightful! Matt DeGroot of CrookedMedia acknowledged the negative attention the film has received, remarking, “In spite of being criticized online, Disney’s remake of Snow White is largely a success! Rachel Zegler shines as a star, (most of) the new songs are catchy and beautifully executed, and the visual aesthetics are rich and vibrant. Gal Gadot's gowns are stunning.”

I was initially concerned, but I must say that Snow White embodies the essence of DISNEY MAGIC! This film is likely to become a favorite among many viewers of live-action adaptations, according to another review.

What controversies have arisen?

The backlash began in 2021 with the announcement of Zegler, a Latina actress, cast as Snow White—a character from a German fairy tale known for being "the fairest of them all."

This decision was met with criticism from some fans and conservative commentators, who labeled it as "woke."

In a now-deleted tweet, Zegler, an actress of Colombian and Polish heritage, stated, "yes i am snow white No i am not bleaching my skin for the role."

However, the criticism intensified within Disney's dedicated fan community when Zegler appeared to make disparaging remarks about the 1937 classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was Disney's inaugural feature-length animated film.

Zegler referred to the cherished original as "weird," citing that Snow White's romantic interest is "a guy who literally stalks her." To further complicate matters for Disney, Zegler has concluded social media posts with "Free Palestine," while Gadot, who portrays the Evil Queen, has publicly supported her home country of Israel.
