Despicable Me 4 story:

Helmed by Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage, the story of Despicable Me 4 is about Maxime Le Mal seeking revenge on Gru. After Gru gets him arrested at the reunion party of the 1985 batch at their school Lycée Pas Bon, Maxime has only one mission: to harm Gru and his family. While Gru is now an undercover agent of AVL (Anti-Villain League), Maxime Le Mal has turned deadlier than ever by becoming an insect.

Despicable Me 4 review:

The best part about Despicable Me 4 is that its premise is set in the initial few minutes of the movie, which is merely 1 hour and 34 minutes long. Without beating around the bush, the makers take us directly to the cat-and-mouse chase between Gru and Maxime La Mel. While Gru gets Maxime arrested at the reunion party, little does he know that Le Mal will escape from the prison overnight.

This puts Gru and his family's lives at stake. With their new identities, Gru, Lucy, and their kids, Gru Jr, Margo, Edith, and Agnes start afresh in a place called Mayflower. Gru, along with the three Minions, goes against all odds to protect his family, especially baby Gru Jr, from Maxime's wrath. On the other hand, at AVL, a few minions are transformed into Mega Minions, who are ready to fight it out in a new mission to nab Maxime Le Mal and protect Gru. But, do they succeed in this mission? Well, the answer lies in the story unfolding further.

Although it's a complete Gru vs Maxime Le Mal show, Mega Minions steal the thunder in it. The five of them try to pull people out of difficult situations but end up creating mayhem all over. And that's exactly where the humour quotient of Despicable Me 4 soars high. To top it all, several Minions at AVL and the three of them with Gru level up the hilarity factor in some serious situations.

Besides that, the cheerful and emotional moments between Gru and Gru Jr are something to look forward to. Amid all the chaos, there's an emotional touch to Despicable Me 4's story with a bit of focus on a father-son relationship. Voiceovers by Steve Carell (Gru), Will Ferrell (Maxime Le Mal), Pierre Coffin (Minions), and Joey King (Poppy) amp up the excitement factor in the film. The music of this animated movie blends in well with the storyline.

However, the climax of Despicable Me 4 could have been much more intense, considering Maxime was after Gru and his family's life all this while. It turns out to be disappointing as the build-up of the movie was quite exciting. The makers should have given more dialogues to Valentina (seen as Maxime Le Mal's love interest) to make her character (an evil one) more powerful.

Despicable Me 4 final verdict:

Despicable Me 4 is a wholesome animated film that guarantees a whirlwind of emotions with some 'aww'-worthy moments. An entertaining watch that shouldn't be missed on the big screen.
