Badass Ravikumar Review: Dive into Himesh Reshammiya’s Ultimate Madness

An individual typically experiences approximately 60,000 thoughts each day. Among these, a subset known as 'intrusive thoughts' emerges, characterized by their unwelcome and involuntary nature. Badass Ravikumar embodies Himesh Reshammiya’s intrusive thought, and he has allowed it to prevail.

It is important to recognize that he is a composite of iconic characters such as Pathaan, Tara Singh from Gadar, and Jawan, transformed into a formidable force. His voice resonates with an echo whenever he speaks, and he deviates from the ordinary, opting to rhyme every utterance.

This film presents an onslaught not only against the antagonist but also against our sensory perceptions, with common sense suffering significantly. Himesh establishes from the outset that logic is optional, emphasized in bold letters. Consequently, one cannot hold him accountable for the outrageous spectacle he has created. As a film critic, one may feel a sense of powerlessness, as he is always prepared with a retort.

The plot, or the lack of it

The narrative lacks coherence. Himesh engages in activities that please him, employing a chainsaw to dismember individuals before leaping into a ravine after being shot, only to reappear later for a 15-minute segment in the latter part of the film where he and Sunny Leone perform a medley of five songs in rapid succession. The atmosphere transitions from 'Tandoori Days' to a poignant ballad by Shreya Ghoshal, followed by an upbeat track—Himesh offers no respite for the audience to comprehend the unfolding events. Additionally, there exists an emotional subplot explaining his possession of a pack of cigarettes, which he never actually smokes.

Furthermore, the diamond heist scene elicited continuous laughter from the audience. Is there any limit to Ravi Kumar's capabilities?

Himesh takes charge of the music, lyrics, storyline, and, naturally, the production of a film in which he appears in every scene. His brilliance is inescapable. "I am the son of the soil," he declares without context.

It… works?

To the credit of Badass Ravikumar, not a single individual chose to leave during the screening; they all remained for this peculiar experience.

During the two-hour duration, the audience only truly awakens when Kirti Kulhari appears on screen. It is quite surprising to see an actress of her calibre involved in this film, as her presence feels incongruous in a role that merely demands her to display skin and perpetually hold a cigarette.

In summary, Badass Ravikumar is predictably a cringe-inducing spectacle, a fact that was evident from the trailer. The film delivers exactly what it promises. For fans of Himesh Reshammiya, this movie will be appealing. For those who do not consider themselves fans of Himesh Reshammiya… you might be one, even if you are not yet aware of it.
