Brinda Story

Brinda(Trisha Krishnan) is a sub-inspector of police who embarks on a journey to nab a serial killer. As she digs deep into the investigation, she finds more clues of a mass murder committed by a crazy killer, Thakur(Anand Sami). She is joined by her colleague(Ravindra Vijay) and only finds out that there is a bigger nexus involved in these murders. But Brinda does not know that these killings have a direct relationship with her past. Who is this killer? What is his connection with Brinda? Did Brinda stop him from committing a ghastly crime? To know the answers, you need to stream the eight episode series on Sony Liv.

Brinda Review

Brinda is directed by Surya Manoj, and he has also attempted a crime drama where a serial killer is on the loose. This topic has been covered in so many films and web series to date but what makes the difference in Brinda is the way Manoj has penned the script. His screenplay is arresting, and as you keep watching each episode, the tension and suspense build up big time.

Also, the manner in which each character has a backstory and how it is linked to the entire story is wonderful. Brinda also marks the debut of Trisha Krishnan into the Telugu OTT space, and she has killed it with her performance. It is Trisha's intense avatar that holds your attention till the end. As the casting is fresh and Trisha is new to this kind of subject, Brinda becomes even more interesting to watch.

One of the best aspects of Brinda is the writing of director Manoj. He has gone into a lot of detail regarding the murders, and the way the cops investigate the case is showcased in a very interesting manner. The locations chosen, the amazing backdrop, and the lighting sets the mood of the show in a superb manner. Right from the first episode itself, Brinda sucks you in, and the concept of the killer going after people for a religious reason is thought of quite well.

Generally, web series with serial killers have a past and showcase the reason for the killer to become the way he is. But in Brinda, things are different, and it is very hard to guess who is behind the actual killings. The dialogue in the show and the way the character of Anand Sami is showcased and goes about committing murders is amazing and leaves you stunned in a few scenes.

Trisha has a past, and so does the serial killer. But the manner in which the emotions behind their past are maintained till the very end is superb. Brinda scored high on emotional impact and is one of the most well-made series in recent times that clicks big time on drama.

However, once the major twist is revealed in the seventh episode, the eighth episode becomes a bit predictable and ends on a simple note. Also, the pace in the sixth episode, when the flashback of the killer is showcased, tends to get slow. Otherwise, Brinda is one hell of a thriller that holds you till the end.

Coming to the performances, Trisha shocks one and all with her emotional act. All these days, we have seen her in glamorous roles, but boy, she has killed it in Brinda. Be it her serious look or the pain of her past she carries in her eyes, Trisha does not put a foot wrong in Brinda. Seeing a star heroine in such a series is quite refreshing, and she is the biggest highlight of Brinda.

With each passing project, Ravindra Vijay is getting solid roles. He is an underrated actor who will go to the next level with this series. Vijay, as a cop who assists Trisha, never crosses the line and is amazing in the show. The investigation scenes between him and Trisha are superbly executed. Indrajith Sukumar, the popular Malayalam actor, is also amazing in the series. He gives a settled performance and brings a lot of depth to the show.

Anand Sami, who plays the serial killer is one of the best performers in the show. The actor takes you for a wild ride with his expressions, and body language and gives you a creepy feeling throughout. Such is the honesty in his performance. Aamani, who plays Trisha's mother, gets a neat role, and she is very good. The rest of the actors who played cops have done their jobs well. But the main characters of Trisha, Ravindra Vijay, Anand Sami, and Rakendu Mouli steal the show and make Brinda a show filled with gritty performances.

On the other hand, Shakti Kanth Karthik has composed the score and it is just about okay. One gets a feeling that a more riveting score would have taken the show to another level altogether. A special mention to cameraman Dinesh K Babu, his work is stunning, to say the least. The way he has lighted up the series and showcased the city of Hyderabad from a new angle was amazing.

The editor Anwar Ali's work is also impressive. In a way, Brinda is a riveting crime drama that has been narrated in a very engaging manner. There are hardly any roadblocks, and will be loved by one and all. The best part of the series is that there are no cuss words or sleaze that the web series in general have,

Brinda Verdict

On the whole, Brinda is one of the best Telugu web series made in recent times. Right from the first episode, there is suspense, drama, thrill, and performances packed in a solid manner. The icing on the cake is Trisha Krishnan, who kills it in a smashing new avatar.
