The narrative centres around a couple, Rishabh and Surbhi, portrayed by Ritik Ghanshani and Ayesha Kaduskar, as they navigate their romantic relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although various circumstances create distance between them, fate intervenes, leading to their reunion when their families arrange their marriage, oblivious to their prior connection. The series delves into themes of love, familial ties, and the dynamics of Gen Z relationships, making it an engaging watch.

Bada Naam Karenge Review

Set against the backdrop of Ratlam, Mumbai, and Ujjain, Bada Naam Karenge is indeed a family-oriented series, as noted by Sooraj Barjatya in various interviews. The on-screen chemistry between Ritik Ghanshani and Ayesha Kaduskar, who play Rishabh and Surbhi, is particularly captivating.

The series begins by depicting the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Rishabh, the son of the renowned owner of Shree Ganga Misthaan Bhandaar in Ratlam, resides in Mumbai for his studies and work. He encounters Surbhi during a party he hosts at his apartment. Surbhi, a biology student, lives in a girls' hostel near her college. Initially, their acquaintance is limited, but after sharing some drinks, Surbhi becomes unwell and inadvertently spends the night at Rishabh's residence. Meanwhile, a news broadcast reveals that the Prime Minister of India has announced a 21-day lockdown to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Every form of transportation will be prohibited except for emergencies. Surbhi, who had fallen asleep, was unaware of this situation and awoke the following morning to discover that she was unable to leave Rishabh's residence due to the lockdown. This circumstance serves as the catalyst for the blossoming of Rishabh and Surbhi's romance.

Do not overlook Jitendra Kumar's captivating cameo as the proprietor of Choco and Cinnamon. He embodies his character, Santosh Khandelwal, with the charm reminiscent of Jeetu Bhaiya from Kota Factory. Although his appearance lasts only about ten minutes, his performance is endearing and memorable.

The direction and scriptwriting evoke warmth, striving to present a genuine portrayal of the characters' experiences. However, just as their love begins to deepen, Surbhi must return to her home in Ujjain due to her father's minor heart attack.

At times, the series evokes memories of Gong Yoo's Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. Recall how Goblin penned a poem for his beloved, filled with romantic imagery of rain, snow, and leaves. Similarly, in Bada Naam Karenge, Surbhi composes a poem expressing, "We will meet again someday. How and where I do not know. But we will meet." She employs similar poetic references as Goblin, creating a scene that is sure to enchant viewers and deepen their affection for the on-screen couple.

After several years, Rishabh and Surbhi reunite, but this time their families have arranged their marriage without realizing that they are already acquainted. When they meet at a restaurant, both are taken aback, yet they choose not to disclose their prior relationship to their families. This series beautifully illustrates the concept of a love-arranged marriage. Sooraj Barjatya, renowned for his family-oriented classics such as Vivah, Hum Saath Saath Hai, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun!, presents a touching narrative that intertwines familial relationships with a contemporary love story suitable for the OTT platform.

Bada Naam Karenge also delves into the challenges faced by younger generations when older family members impose their wishes upon them. Similar to the dynamics in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, we witness Amitabh Bachchan's character, Yash Raichand, expressing his displeasure towards his adopted son Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) for his desire to marry a middle-class woman, Anjali (Kajol). The elder members dominate the household, often oblivious to the true desires of others. In Bada Naam Karenge, Rishabh's uncle (portrayed by Kanwaljit Singh) evokes memories of Amitabh's roles in K3G and Mohabbatein. However, as the story progresses, the younger characters help their elders recognize that they too can be mistaken.

When the families eventually discover that Rishabh and Surbhi are already familiar with one another, they react with anger and disappointment. After navigating numerous challenges, Rishabh's stern family comes to understand that their anger is detrimental to their familial relationships. The series is enriched with engaging dialogues, captivating music, and outstanding performances. While some scenes may feel prolonged, they are ultimately overshadowed by the romantic storyline. The concluding scene of Bada Naam Karenge is sure to warm your heart and inspire a longing for a family dynamic like theirs.
