All We Imagine As Light Story - Malayali nurses Prabha and Anu are employed by a hospital in the busy suburbs of Mumbai. Prabha receives an unexpected gift from her separated spouse that makes her feel disconnected and makes her wonder about the purpose of her existence. Anu, her roommate, is stuck in her own world while she is trying to articulate her choices to her parents as well as enjoying her freedom away from home.

All We Imagine As Light Review - Though it may not appeal to everyone, Payal Kapadia's film is a sophisticated depiction of everyday people attempting to find hope and a better life in the "City of Dreams", Mumbai. The movie masterfully depicts two single women attempting to find some serenity amidst the chaos of life in the wilderness of the busiest city in India. 

When Prabha's estranged husband sends her a rice cooker, the Malayali nurse begins to realise how isolated she is. When her entire existence is called into question, she is forced to face how much she has craved his affection and companionship. Anu, her flatmate, is looking for a quiet place to spend time with her partner in the meantime. The movie also shows her dilemma in realising what she wants out of life and communicating those desires to her parents. The main plot point of the film is how the couple finds balance in their life and feels liberated, which gives them newfound hope.

The accounts of a few individuals who came in Mumbai with boundless hope is conveyed occasionally in the film. It establishes a solid foundation for a narrative that focusses on the 'not-so-ordinary' lives of its residents, demonstrating that this is a city not only of dreams but also of illusions that may entice people with its vibrant nature. The director does not waste any time in revealing the complex emotional dynamics of those enmeshed in Mumbai's hectic daily existence. 

What keeps All We Can Imagine As Light real are its performances. Nothing less than applause is appropriate for Kani Kusurti's portrayal of Prabha. She is excellent at depicting an emotionally burdensome role and a woman longing for company. The movie has poignant moments added by her desperation to safeguard Parvati, who works in her hospital, who is vulnerable. Additionally, Divya Prabha skilfully captures the complexities of a young woman who is immature as she adjusts to her newly acquired freedom away from home. Azees Nedumangad, Anand Sami, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon all perform admirably in their roles as well.

On the whole, this film leaves little room for dramatic gimmicks as it explores the characters' diverse emotional facets. The majority of the film transports viewers to an alternate, hopeful reality. 

All We Imagine As Light Verdict - The Grand Prix winner of the Cannes Film Festival is undoubtedly a remarkable depiction of the intricacies of lives among the bustling streets of Mumbai.
