In a recent Instagram update, weight loss coach Ann-Maria Tom discusses how certain habits, such as consuming coffee for breakfast, drinking wine, and opting for leftovers at dinner, may impede weight loss progress. She emphasized that poor dietary choices could be the reason behind the lack of weight loss, even when one is in a calorie deficit.

She stated, “Here’s the reason you are not shedding pounds: Your breakfast consists of coffee, lunch is a salad with fish, a strong craving at 4 PM leads to coffee and cookies, and dinner is leftovers followed by a generous amount of wine because you feel you deserve it.”

Ann-Maria further remarked, “Many of you claim, 'I am in a deficit and eat healthily.' So why aren’t you losing weight? Your eating habits are poor, and you may not want to acknowledge it. You clearly lack understanding of what you are doing... I experienced this for six years, and it is not indicative of knowledge; rather, it is the contrary.”

What you should do

She then provided alternative suggestions:

1. If your breakfast consists of two eggs and toast, consider substituting the toast with three slices of Kodiak waffles or pancakes. These options are rich in carbohydrates and protein, promoting satiety for a longer duration. You can even prepare these in advance and store them in the freezer.

2. Rather than relying solely on chicken and salad or yogurt, try incorporating thawed crab meat into your salad.

3. Alternatively, you can add crab meat to your crackers for a nutritious, high-protein snack.

4. Aim to fill half your plate with foods that have a high fullness index (foods that help you feel satisfied for an extended period), specifically those with a fullness index exceeding 200.

5. Consider adding bone broth to your evening meal.
