If you are familiar with the challenges associated with weight loss, the answer may lie in making a few adjustments to your routine. According to online weight loss coach Ambika Jain, it is essential to steer clear of common pitfalls that many individuals encounter while attempting to shed pounds.
To assist you in reaching your target weight more efficiently, Ambika recently shared the three significant mistakes she made prior to successfully losing 18 kg in an Instagram post.
Ambika emphasized, “Let us learn from my experiences... please save and share this with those who are struggling with their weight.” She then outlined the 'major mistakes' that hindered her weight loss journey:
'I did workout 2 times a day thinking it would help'
"I exercised twice a day, believing it would be beneficial." She explained, “I participated in aerobics and Zumba classes, attending them twice daily. Focusing solely on cardio can lead to muscle loss and result in loose skin. Over-exercising can cause soreness and deprive your body of necessary recovery time, which will eventually reflect on your appearance, including your skin and hair.” To optimize results, Ambika recommends a 60:40 ratio of cardio to strength training.
'I drank fruit juices every day'
"I consumed fruit juices daily." Ambika noted, “Juicing removes fiber by discarding the pulp, which means it does not keep you satiated for long. This can lead to exceeding your daily calorie deficit. A single glass of juice can require 3-5 fruits, resulting in a rapid intake of sugar that spikes blood sugar levels.” She advises, “Limit yourself to one or two whole fruits per day.”
'I skipped dinner completely'
"I completely omitted dinner." Ambika remarked, “I chose to skip dinner, but instead of achieving positive results, I experienced digestive issues such as gas, acid reflux, and constipation. This led to feelings of weakness and a loss of vitality in my hair and skin. It is advisable to have dinner between 7:00 and 8:30 PM, keeping it light and rich in protein.”
Are you struggling to lose weight without seeing any progress? High-calorie foods, such as fried meats, French fries, and sugary beverages, can significantly impede your weight loss efforts. Experts suggest avoiding these items.
