Actor Shehnaaz Gill garnered attention several years ago for her remarkable weight loss journey, during which she lost 12 kg, reaching a weight of 55 kg in under six months. The actress, who gained prominence through her participation in the reality show Bigg Boss 13, recently disclosed her dietary strategies in an interview with Times Foodie. Her daily meal regimen exemplifies the significance of nutritious eating. 

Shehnaaz's dietary approach emphasizes balance, portion control, and mindful consumption. Key highlights of her diet plan are as follows:

Breakfast  

Shehnaaz begins her day with a protein-rich breakfast, featuring options such as granola and a vegetable-enhanced version of poha. She remarked, “My poha recipe is unique as I incorporate more vegetables than poha. Alongside poha, I enjoy granola and curd.”

Lunch  

For a ‘delicious and nutritious lunch,’ Shehnaaz prioritizes a well-rounded meal that includes a combination of protein, fibre, and healthy carbohydrates. Her mainstay is dal, which is rich in protein and fibre. She complements her meals with vegetables and whole grains, typically consuming a roti with 'desi ghee', dal, sabzi, and a sprouts salad.

Snacks  

To manage her cravings and maintain her energy, Shehnaaz opts for healthy snacks like makhanas. She mentions that she carries them with her during shoots or while travelling.

Dinner  

Her dinner consists of a balanced assortment of protein, vegetables, and whole grains. Shehnaaz enjoys khichdi accompanied by curd and bottle gourd soup in the evening.

On her weight loss

In an interview with ETimes in 2020, Shehnaaz revealed that the Covid-19 lockdown brought her professional and personal life to a halt, prompting her to utilize this time effectively by focusing on weight loss. She recalled the ridicule she faced regarding her weight during her time in the Bigg Boss house.

Shehnaaz explained that her weight loss strategy involved simply reducing certain foods and practicing portion control, without engaging in any form of exercise. Over a span of six months, she successfully decreased her weight from 67 kg to 55 kg. She mentioned eliminating non-vegetarian items, chocolate, and ice cream from her diet.

She elaborated on her eating habits, stating, “I typically consumed only one or two types of food each day, avoiding excessive variety. For instance, if I had dal and moong for lunch, I would have the same for dinner. Additionally, I cut down on portion sizes; if I felt I needed two rotis, I would only have one. I managed to lose 12 kg in under six months, solely through my dietary restrictions, without any exercise.”
