Rohit Roy has recently discussed his rigorous preparation for his role in Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007). In a recent conversation with Cyrus Broacha, the actor revealed that he adhered to a severe diet during that time, which he now recognizes as extreme and unhealthy. While it is not unusual for actors to undertake significant measures for their roles, it is commendable that Rohit is addressing the potential risks associated with extreme dieting.

‘I was on a water diet’

Reflecting on his 'slim' appearance in the film, Rohit stated, “I engaged in a rather foolish diet, and I will never repeat that. However, it was necessary for me to achieve that look. I lost 16 kg in less than 25-26 days. I was on a water diet, and it was quite intense,” Rohit recounted.

Emphasizing the risks of extreme diets on health, Rohit remarked, “Indeed, it is perilous, which is why I referred to it as a foolish diet. I will never resort to that again for any reason. I have heard accounts of actors who attempted similar diets, and some have tragically succumbed in Hollywood.”

Rohit on his current diet

When inquired about his fitness regimen, Rohit mentioned that he 'has a gym in his van' while shooting, as he frequently exercises on set. He also disclosed that he adheres to the 16:8 intermittent fasting method, aiming to fast for 'nearly 18 hours a day,' with his eating window limited to 6 to 8 hours.

This fasting approach involves specific guidelines, which may include abstaining from food in the morning or consuming meals only during designated hours. Rohit noted that he refrains from eating from 7 pm to 1 pm, describing this diet plan as 'very easy' to maintain. He recommended that individuals begin with the 12:12 intermittent fasting plan, progress to the 14:10 plan, and eventually transition to the 16:8 fasting and eating schedule, similar to his own.

More about water diet

What exactly is the water diet that Rohit referred to? A water diet, also known as a water fasting diet, is a dietary regimen in which an individual consumes solely water for a specified duration, typically lasting from 24 hours to several days.

Water fasting may facilitate rapid weight loss. However, is it advisable for you to pursue this method? In 2024, we consulted a physician to gain comprehensive insights into its actual health effects—both positive and negative.
