When preparing for a workout, dietician Shilpa Arora recommends a light approach to nutrition. She favors consuming black coffee with ghee prior to exercising. Following the workout, it is crucial to replenish the body with a combination of carbohydrates and protein to aid in muscle repair and recovery. She suggests that high-protein scrambled eggs with feta cheese serve as a tasty and effective post-workout meal.

Pre and post-workout meal

Regarding her pre and post-workout nutrition, she stated, “For my pre-workout meal, I prefer to keep it very light. I avoid heavy foods and opt for black coffee with a spoonful of ghee.”

Shilpa further explained, “After my workout, I enjoy egg bhurji prepared with ghee, using four whole eggs. In response to concerns about cholesterol, I assure you that this is beneficial cholesterol that can enhance my good cholesterol levels. This egg bhurji contains approximately 30 grams of protein due to the four eggs, including the yolks, and I incorporate feta cheese for additional protein and healthy fats. On days when I feel particularly hungry, I add Brazil nuts, which are rich in selenium and beneficial for thyroid health.”

In her social media caption, she emphasized, “Fuel your workout like a professional! The food you consume before and after your exercise session is critically important. Choose the best combinations for energy, muscle development, and quicker recovery—because your fitness goals deserve optimal nutrition! Remember to save this for your next workout…”

Decoding her post-workout meal

Examining her post-workout meal, feta cheese, a traditional Greek cheese made from sheep and goat’s milk, is known for its tangy flavor and creamy texture. It provides not only protein and calcium but also significant amounts of vitamins A and K, folate, pantothenic acid, iron, and magnesium, as noted by Healthline.com.

Eggs are a source of essential nutrients, including choline, which is often lacking in contemporary diets. Healthline.com indicates that eggs deliver protein, fats, and vital vitamins while remaining relatively low in calories. Incorporating eggs into a nutrient-dense dietary plan can enhance overall health.
