Man Reveals Unique 'Common Sense Diet' That Helped Him Shed 50 kg in One Year
6 days ago | 5 Views
Nick Geoppo, a US man who lost 110 pounds (49.89 kg) in 2019, is on a 'mission to help others develop self-belief through achieving and sustaining a healthy body weight'. He is also spreading the message that diets and quick fixes don't work when it comes to sustainable weight loss.
In a recent Instagram post, he revealed the weight loss diets he tried and why they all failed to help him get in shape; in fact, he said these diets can actually cause weight gain as well as lead to mental health issues and disordered eating behaviours.
'I tried every diet you have ever heard of'
Nick stated that he managed to lose 110 pounds through a diet that is likely unfamiliar to most. In 2019, he achieved a weight loss of 110 pounds. However, between 2013 and 2019, he experimented with numerous popular diets, including low-carb, keto, flexible dieting, meticulous calorie counting using MyFitnessPal, intermittent fasting, one meal a day (OMAD), various cleanses, and a regimen of chicken, rice, and broccoli. While he experienced some weight loss with each of these approaches, he consistently regained the weight. He expressed his frustration, noting that these diets are fundamentally flawed, as they impose restrictions and compel constant preoccupation with food. His goal extended beyond mere weight loss; he sought liberation from the constraints of food.
Nick subsequently remarked that he realized the necessity of teaching himself a crucial lesson that neither diets nor coaches had imparted: the concept of balance. Consequently, he formulated a set of straightforward principles.
These principles include:
1. I examined my relationship with food.
2. I confronted the factors that contributed to my weight gain initially.
3. I reflected on my relationship with myself.
4. I transformed my identity.
5. I focused on my mindset, understanding that no 'diet' can lead to lasting weight loss without addressing mental attitudes.
Nick's ultimate weight loss diet
Nick stated, “I successfully shed 110 pounds within a year and have maintained that weight loss for nearly six years. I developed an effective system, which I refer to as the 'common sense diet.' It serves as the anti-diet — a solution that puts an end to all dieting.”
Rather than relying on restrictive trends and temporary solutions, Nick emphasizes that this diet integrates practical habits, balanced nutrition, and conscious decision-making to achieve enduring outcomes. He believes it is essential to reshape one’s relationship with food and take back control of one’s life.
