Spending too much time sitting can cause discomfort, pain, and even lasting issues. In an Instagram video posted on April 22, fitness lover Malaika Arora shared a simple exercise to help ease discomfort and pain from sitting, while also boosting your overall health.

Here's how to do Malaika's stretching exercise

In the video, the 51-year-old reality TV judge and ex-VJ showed off a seated side stretch while sitting on a mat. She kept her spine straight and placed her hands on her head, fingers interlocked. Then, she leaned her head and upper body to one side for a couple of seconds before switching to the other side.

Breathe deeply and slowly to chill out and stretch more, and steer clear of any bouncing or jerking moves that might hurt or feel uncomfortable. If you stick to these tips, you can do the seated side stretch shown by Malaika safely and really enjoy what it has to offer.

Malaika mentioned that this is an awesome way to boost flexibility and ease tension in your neck and shoulders. In the workout video, she suggested, 'Work on your posture with this simple move, especially if you’re sitting for a long time... do 10 reps on each side, both right and left.' She also added in her caption, 'Stretching to bliss.'
