9 days ago | 5 Views
Walking 10,000 steps has been shown to be an effective method for weight loss. While traditional approaches such as engaging in intense workouts at the gym and adhering to calorie-restricted diets are often emphasized, walking is frequently overlooked as a viable means of fat burning.
Fitness coach Vimal Rajput argues that walking is "the most underrated way to burn fat." In a video posted on Instagram on April 4, the nutritionist stated that "10,000 steps a day can burn approximately 500 calories, which totals 3,500 calories per week, equating to about 1 pound of fat lost weekly."
10k steps! The underrated way to lose fat
Emphasizing the weight loss benefits of walking 10,000 steps, Vimal remarked, "This [walking 10,000 steps] is the most underrated method for fat loss. You don’t need to spend hours in the gym or exhaust yourself with long runs and extensive high-intensity interval training. Simply get outside and start moving."
Why is walking elite?
Vimal explained that walking is considered an elite form of exercise due to its low intensity, which means the body does not require recovery time afterward. In contrast, after a vigorous workout, it is generally recommended to rest to allow for recovery.
According to the fitness coach, this allows individuals to focus more on their weight training sessions at the gym. "By combining walking with weight training, you can effectively burn fat. You don’t need to dedicate a large amount of time to walking; you can break it up throughout the day. And don’t worry too much about counting steps—just aim to move more whenever and wherever possible," she advised.
She also recommended using a walking pad, describing it as a transformative tool for those who have limited opportunities to go outside. "While it’s not quite the same as enjoying the outdoors, for busy individuals who can’t get outside often, it’s an excellent way to accumulate your steps," she noted.
