Have you ever considered how to begin your day in a healthy manner? Avoiding the immediate use of your phone upon waking, making your bed, and creating a to-do list are habits that can foster discipline and promote a serene start to your day. However, it is also essential to incorporate healthy eating and exercise habits. Nutritionist Deepsikha Jain offers valuable insights on this topic.

Deepsikha, known for sharing health and nutrition advice on her Instagram account @fries.to.fit, has outlined several healthy practices to cultivate a "beautiful, healthy, and lovely morning." In a recent video titled, “Save these healthy habits to start your day with ☀️,” she highlighted three key actions to ensure a positive start to your day.

Three habits to start your day on a healthy note

  • Fat first: Begin your day by consuming healthy fats, which can help stabilize blood sugar levels, enhance mood, and reduce cravings throughout the day. She recommends incorporating nuts such as almonds and walnuts into your breakfast.
  • Do the hard things first: To incorporate exercise or any form of physical activity, prioritize the more difficult tasks at the beginning of your day. This approach will set a positive tone and encourage healthy habits for the remainder of the day.
  • No tea or coffee on an empty stomach: The third recommendation is to refrain from consuming coffee or tea on an empty stomach, as both beverages are highly acidic and can lead to gastric discomfort, potentially causing irritation throughout the day.

Starting your day with nuts is particularly advantageous due to the beneficial fats they contain. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dietitian Shikha Kumari, a clinical dietician and weight loss expert, stated, “Beginning the day with soaked nuts has been shown to be beneficial in numerous ways. If you are seeking simple strategies to improve your diet, consider soaking your nuts. Varieties such as almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pecans, and pistachios are rich in fiber, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, healthy fats, and antioxidants.”
