Kartik Aaryan Shares His Top Fitness Tip: "Abs Are Crafted in the Kitchen"

Actor Kartik Aaryan experienced a significant transformation in his role in Chandu Champion, a biographical film about Murlikant Petkar, who was the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Paralympics in 1972. Recently, the actor disclosed the methods he employed to attain an athletic physique.

How did Kartik Aaryan achieve the physique for Chandu Champion?

Kartik disclosed in an interview with Screen that it required significant time and effort, approximately 1.5 years, to attain the physique for his role as Chandu Champion. A crucial factor in this transformation was the adjustment of his sleep schedule. He began to retire for the night at around 10:30 pm each evening. "I previously struggled with insomnia. During the filming, my routine involved going to bed at 10:30 pm and rising at 6:30 or 7 am. To achieve that body, a minimum of 8 hours of sleep is essential," he stated.

‘Your abs are built in the kitchen…’

In addition to prioritizing sleep, he placed significant emphasis on his dietary habits. "It is a common assertion that one's physique, including abdominal definition, is primarily developed in the kitchen rather than the gym. My diet was the most crucial aspect of my journey throughout 1.5 to 2 years, which involved eliminating sugar, reducing gluten intake, minimizing carbohydrate consumption, and increasing protein intake," the actor remarked.

He further elaborated, "My team and I meticulously monitored every detail and adhered to these guidelines with great discipline. At that time, I operated with the precision of a machine. For instance, if I had tomato soup for dinner, I would consume it consistently for a year and a half. Although my routine became somewhat monotonous, the remarkable results I achieved served as a powerful motivation to reach my objectives."

Did he have any chat meals during the Chandu Champion?

Kartik disclosed that he abstained from any cheat meals during his preparation for the film Chandu Champion. Nevertheless, when he is not engaged in filming or training for a role, he has a penchant for chole bhature, aloo chaat, street food, and Chinese cuisine. He possesses a significant fondness for sweets, relishing ice cream, pastries, and chocolates. Additionally, the actor has a deep appreciation for Indian cuisine.

Kartik's advice for a fit body

Kartik recommended that the audience adopt a diet tailored to their individual needs. He disclosed that his body fat percentage dropped to nearly 7% due to a diet he followed for a specific role. However, for those seeking to implement changes in their everyday lives, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This includes engaging in at least one hour of physical activity, whether through gym workouts or sports, adhering to a nutritious diet, and establishing a consistent sleep routine.
