Karishma Mehta, the CEO of Humans of Bombay (HoB), disclosed her choice to freeze her eggs at the age of 32 in a photo dump shared on Instagram in January 2025. On March 19, she posted a list of five insights gained from her egg freezing experience, with the intention of assisting other women in making this 'empowering choice'.

No substitute for professional expertise on egg-freezing

Karishma emphasized that although the internet can serve as a valuable tool, it is crucial to seek personalized advice and diagnosis from a medical professional. In the comments section, she stated, “The only individual qualified to address your medical inquiries is your doctor. According to Karishma, here are 5 things you should know about egg freezing:

1. Yes you are going to be injected for anywhere between 10 days to 14 days depending upon your body type.

2. You do face hormonal up and down.

3. It is expensive. You will have to plan your finances.

4. Sometimes, you may have to do multiple cycles until you receive enough mature eggs because not all the eggs that you retrieve are mature.

5. You can most definitely conceive naturally even after freezing your eggs.

In her post, Karishma stated, “For numerous women, opting for egg freezing is a liberating decision that provides them with time, flexibility, and autonomy regarding their future. However, what does the actual process entail? What considerations should you be aware of before proceeding? Here are the insights I gained throughout my experience, and I hope they prove beneficial to you as well! Please note that the complete process can span from 10 days to 3 weeks, but your doctor remains the best source for any medical inquiries you may have! This reflects my personal journey!”
