Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit's spouse, Dr. Shriram Nene, is a cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in surgeries involving the chest organs, including the heart, lungs, and esophagus. He frequently shares valuable health insights on his Instagram account. His posts cover a range of topics, from recommended cooking oils to the principles of intermittent fasting, providing followers with essential information to make informed health choices. Additionally, Dr. Nene has recently recommended specific cooking oils for improved heart health.

In a recent Instagram reel, Dr. Shriram Nene discussed the advantages and disadvantages of both cold and hot showers. Many individuals often find themselves uncertain about the optimal water temperature to maximize the benefits of their shower experience.

Understanding the pros and cons is crucial for making an informed choice. Dr. Nene elaborated on the benefits and drawbacks of each type of shower to provide a clearer perspective. He posed the question, “Hot or cold—what’s the best choice for your skin?”

Cold showers:

“They invigorate you in the morning, enhancing alertness, heart rate, and oxygen intake. Additionally, they can soothe itchy skin and alleviate some muscle soreness post-exercise,” Dr. Nene noted regarding the benefits of cold showers.

However, he also cautioned about the potential downsides of cold showers. “One important consideration is that if you are already experiencing a cold, a cold shower may be quite uncomfortable,” he remarked.

Hot showers:

“They are undoubtedly relaxing and can be beneficial before bedtime. Furthermore, they help to open up your pores and cleanse away dirt,” Dr. Nene explained in the video.

Hot showers, while often enjoyable, can have negative consequences. The doctor noted, “Prolonged exposure to hot water can result in thermal injury and deplete your skin of essential oils. Individuals with atopic conditions, such as allergies or eczema, as well as those with high blood pressure, may experience adverse effects from this practice.”
