The youthful radiance of the skin diminishes as one ages. With the loss of elasticity and volume, wrinkles and fine lines start to emerge. While numerous anti-aging products claim to deliver noticeable results, it is essential not to overlook the potential of natural ingredients found in your kitchen. These home remedies are not only economical but also easily accessible, often appealing even to those who favor high-end skincare brands.

During an episode of The Ranveer Show podcast, dermatologist Dr. Rashmi Shetty discussed straightforward home remedies for combating aging. She outlined various applications that can be made at home.

At-home remedies:

1. Exfoliate with natural products

Dr. Rashmi emphasized the significance of exfoliation, noting that the natural process of shedding dead skin cells slows down with age, resulting in a buildup that can cause dullness and uneven texture. Exfoliation is essential for removing these dead cells, and it can be achieved through homemade solutions.

She suggested using face masks composed of besan (gram flour) and yogurt, or a mixture of sugar and honey. Ingredients like yogurt, which contain natural lactic acid, are particularly effective for gentle exfoliation.

However, she cautioned that homemade products should be applied daily, as they tend to be less potent than commercial skincare items. Consistent daily application is necessary to observe visible improvements. If applying a face mask feels cumbersome, Dr. Rashmi advised using a combination of yogurt and besan or sugar and honey just before cleansing, gently massaging for five minutes.

2. Hydration

The subsequent step is to ensure proper hydration. Dr. Rashmi recommended using honey, coconut oil, or milk malai (the cream layer of milk). Apply these to the skin, allow them to sit for ten minutes, and then rinse off with warm water.

Two important anti-ageing habits

Additionally, Dr. Rashmi highlighted two crucial anti-aging practices that should not be neglected: moisturizing and applying sunscreen. It is vital to incorporate these steps into your routine before heading out.

Emphasizing the importance of staying connected to one's origins, Dr. Rashmi suggested using traditional moisturizers familiar from childhood, such as coconut oil, mustard oil, and ghee. Alternatively, individuals should opt for a moisturizer that is compatible with their skin type.

Finally, the use of sunscreen is essential, as it provides crucial protection against harmful UV rays. The detrimental effects of UV exposure on skin health are well-documented.
