Fitness coach Dan Go emphasized the significance of selecting healthy rewards that correspond with long-term fitness objectives in an Instagram post he published on April 20. He remarked, “Rewarding weight loss with food is like rewarding sobriety with alcohol,” and further stated, “It takes 60 seconds to consume 400 calories of ice cream. It takes 60 minutes to burn 400 calories through running. ”
'Utilize food and workouts to enhance your hardware'
He explained that rewarding weight loss with food can reverse progress and strengthen unhealthy habits, as linking food with rewards may result in emotional eating and poor relationships with food. Dan asserts that by opting for non-food rewards or healthier food choices, one can acknowledge progress while upholding a positive relationship with food and fitness.
He remarked, “The worst method of losing weight is attempting to exercise it off your body. Cease attempting to shed pounds through your workouts. Use your diet for that. . . Many people believe self-love involves consuming junk food, watching films, and enjoying bubble baths. True self-love is about engaging in intense workouts, eating nutritious foods, and going to sleep at a sensible hour. ”

In his caption, Dan stated, “One of my greatest errors when in the gym was utilizing my workouts as a means of punishing myself for my eating habits. When I behaved 'badly', I would experience shame and then attempt to compensate for it by going to the gym and exhausting my body with rigorous circuit training and HIIT workouts. It began to distort my perception of exercise. This harmful cycle of shame and punishment persisted for years. ”
He continued, “Now I don’t inflict punishment on myself or experience shame for my moments of weakness. I don't go to the gym to simply perform exercises for the sake of it. I go because I’m appreciating what my body is capable of. It’s time to cease punishing yourself with workouts. It’s time to start expressing gratitude for your body.
