Expert Advice: 5 Tattoo Choices to Avoid According to a Dermatologist

Dr. Gurveen Waraich recently posted a video discussing the beauty practices she consistently avoids for her face, skin, and hair. On her Instagram account, Garekars MD Dermatology Clinic, the dermatologist emphasized the importance of adhering to specific beauty guidelines, which she believes everyone should follow.

Things a dermatologist says she would never do

While tattoos are often created using black ink, individuals who prefer vibrant colors can opt for designs in shades such as red, green, purple, white, or blue.

Despite the allure of these colorful tattoo designs, Dr. Gurveen advises against choosing red or green tattoos due to the potential for future regret. She notes that while laser tattoo removal is an option, it can be particularly painful for these colors.

She stated, “There are five things I would never do as a dermatologist: getting a green or red tattoo because I understand how difficult it is to remove those colors with a laser if one experiences tattoo regret.”

'Hair rebonding is like suicide for your hair'

Dr. Gurveen Waraich also cautioned against certain skin and hair treatments, expressing her reluctance to undergo procedures such as: “At over 40, I would avoid undergoing a strong, deep chemical peel on my face. Hair rebonding or straightening is akin to committing 'suicide' for your hair, and I personally do not favor it.”

Additionally, she advised against: “Injecting dermal fillers directly into the nasolabial folds without first considering face lifting or cheek contouring.” She concluded, “And lastly, I would never, under any circumstances, skip my sunscreen.”
