Summer can be harsh on our skin. The high temperatures often lead to dryness, while the persistent humidity can result in excessive oiliness, leading to frequent breakouts. At times, our skin requires a soothing break, and this is where face masks become beneficial.

Given the vast selection of face masks on the market, it can be challenging to determine which ones are effective. Face masks are available in various types, including sheet masks, setting masks, cream-based masks, and even homemade options. But which ones are best suited for the summer season?

Dermatologist Dr. Rashmi Shetty recently took to Instagram to recommend the face masks that are effective this summer.

Best face masks for most skin types

Do you prefer the refreshing, creamy masks or the luxurious sheet masks? Interestingly, traditional options remain highly regarded, as dermatologists recommend a mask that your grandmother likely endorsed.

She stated, “For summer, the most suitable choice for various skin types would be a setting mask, such as the classic multani mitti or fuller's Earth, sandalwood paste, or any product from a well-prepared kit that you can apply. These masks dry on your face after a while, allowing you to rinse them off with cold water.”

Benefits of this face mask type

Face masks are designed to address the primary skin concerns that arise during the summer months. As the skin enters a state of heightened sensitivity due to challenging environmental factors, such as intense heat and strong sunlight, these masks provide essential relief.

The dermatologist elaborated on their advantages, stating, “What can one expect in summer? The skin often becomes tanned, appears fatigued, with enlarged pores, oily texture, and may even experience acne breakouts. Therefore, it is crucial to use a product that soothes the skin, reduces excess oil, and gives the impression of minimized pores. While it may not actually shrink them, it offers a calming and cooling sensation. Upon removal, you may notice a reduction in tan, leaving the skin looking revitalized.”
