She compared them to your go-to coffee, saying, “They’re like a cup of coffee for tired eyes; they give a little boost for a while, but they don’t alter the biology.” This suggests that while under-eye patches might provide a temporary lift, they likely don’t address the deeper issues of your skin’s biology, like natural aging signs such as wrinkles or fine lines, no matter how they’re advertised.
Different kinds of undereye patches and their functions

Under-eye patches contain particular ingredients that influence their effectiveness and address specific issues. Dr. Jushya Bhatia Sarin provided the following details::
- Hydrogen patches with hyaluronic acid are fantastic for giving your under-eye area a boost of hydration and softness. Remember, it’s all about moisture rather than getting rid of wrinkles.
- Vitamin C-infused patches are perfect for brightening up any dullness under your eyes. They’re a great choice if you have a party or special occasion coming up.
- Caffeine patches are excellent for tackling puffiness, especially if you chill them in the fridge before applying.

So, are all under-eye patches just as effective?
Not really, since some can actually do more harm than good. Dr. Sarin warns against certain ingredients in this sensitive area.
She explained, “Patches that contain acids or retinol? Definitely not a good idea. The skin under your eyes is super delicate and thin, making it prone to irritation. So, pair your under-eye patches with your eye cream instead of using them alone. Think of them as skin boosters, not miracle workers.”
