Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has addressed the rumors suggesting that she will be called upon by the Puducherry Police regarding a ₹2.4 crore cryptocurrency fraud case. She characterized these claims as 'false and deceptive' and assured that she would take 'suitable measures' against such misinformation.

Tamannaah Bhatia's statement

In a statement provided exclusively to HT, Tamannaah remarked, "I have become aware of the circulation of rumours suggesting my involvement with cryptocurrency. I kindly urge my colleagues in the media to refrain from disseminating any false, misleading, or fabricated reports and rumours."

In response to these allegations, she further noted that her team is exploring legal options regarding the situation. "In the interim, my team is assessing the matter to take suitable action," her statement concluded.

What is the cryptocurrency scam?

On Friday, various reports indicated that Tamannaah and her fellow actor Kajal Aggarwal may be summoned by the Puducherry Police for interrogation regarding a case associated with an alleged cryptocurrency scheme.

According to 123Telugu, a resident of Puducherry named Ashokan complained with the local authorities, asserting that a firm based in Coimbatore had defrauded him and ten of his associates of ₹2.4 crore by persuading them to invest in a cryptocurrency initiative. Ashokan mentioned that he was invited to the company's launch event in 2022, which Tamannaah attended, as well as a subsequent event in Mahabaleshwar that Kajal also attended. The report stated that the police had requested clarification from the actors involved. However, there has been no official comment from the police regarding this issue.

Tamannaah's most recent appearance was in the Netflix film "Sikandar Ka Mukaddar," where she starred alongside Avinash Tiwary and Jimmy Sheirgill. She is currently set to feature in the horror thriller "Odela 2," in which she portrays the role of a sadhvi.
