Suraj Venjaramoodu on how he landed role Prithviraj's Empuraan

Suraj Venjaramoodu and Prithviraj Sukumaran previously collaborated in the acclaimed film Driving Licence. In his character introduction video, Suraj recounted that during the filming of Driving Licence, he had pointed out to Prithviraj what he perceived as the 'one flaw' in the 2019 film Lucifer, which also featured Mohanlal.

When Prithviraj expressed surprise and inquired about what was lacking in the movie, Suraj humorously remarked that his absence from the cast constituted a “flaw.” Suraj then elaborated that Prithviraj acknowledged this as a “mistake” and assured him that it would be rectified.

Suraj, who has gained recognition for his comedic timing before transitioning to more serious roles, also mentioned to Prithviraj that while it may not be his personal concern, the fans might have an issue with it. Prithviraj agreed to address the matter, and shortly thereafter, he contacted Suraj to inform him that he was indeed correcting the “flaw.”

Returning to his role in L2 Empuraan, Suraj will be seen as Sajanachandran, a significant figure in Kerala's political landscape.

L2 Empuraan cast

L2 Empuraan serves as the second installment in the Lucifer series and will continue the narrative of Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi-Ab'raam, played by Mohanlal. Director Prithviraj will reprise his role as Zayed Masood, alongside Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, and Fazil, who will also return to their respective roles.

L2 Empuraan is scheduled for a global release on March 27, 2025.
