Samay Raina has removed all episodes of India's Got Latent following remarks made by Ranveer Allahbadia, which resulted in several FIRs being filed against him and the producers of the show. Recently, YouTuber Shwetabh Gangwar disclosed that he had a conversation with the comedian, during which he discovered that Raina was feeling "scared and depressed."
Samay is depressed?
In a video that has since been removed, Shwetabh disclosed that he had a conversation with his friend Samay during the ongoing controversy, noting that Samay appeared to be in a very low state. "Bhaisahab, he is a broken man. When the controversy initially surfaced, I could still recognize the old Samay within him, but during our last conversation, I encountered a broken individual... one who is depressed, sad, and frightened," he stated, as reported by Free Press Journal.
Shwetabh further explained that he decided to take a hiatus from social media because he felt powerless, unable to provide support to Samay during this challenging period. "I was emotionally exhausted. It was painful to witness my friend in such distress," Shwetabh remarked. The YouTuber also noted that Ranveer, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani were experiencing their own struggles.
When Samay addressed the controversy
Samay is presently in Canada for his live performances following the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent. He has requested an extension until March 17 to return to India and provide his official statement. During one of his performances, he addressed the controversy.
A fan named Shubham Dutta took to Facebook to recount his experience, stating, "For the first time, I witnessed a 25-year-old man burdened by significant mental stress, exhibiting dark circles under his eyes, a gaunt face, and disheveled hair, as he walked onto the stage clad in a dust-covered black hoodie. His opening words into the microphone were, ‘Thank you for covering my lawyer’s fees.’"
The fan further disclosed that the comedian made light of the situation, remarking, "There will be numerous instances in this show where you might believe I could deliver something truly humorous, but in those moments, just keep BeerBiceps in mind, brother."
SC slams Samay Raina
On March 2, during the Supreme Court's proceedings regarding the controversy surrounding YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia's involvement in India's Got Latent, the bench permitted him to continue his podcasting activities under specific conditions. Additionally, the court addressed remarks made by Samay during his show in Canada.
While refraining from mentioning him directly, Justice Kant conveyed his disapproval of "one of these youngsters" who commented on the case while abroad, stating, "These youngsters are being overly clever. They believe we are perhaps an outdated generation. One of them has traveled to Canada and made statements there. They are unaware of the jurisdiction this Court possesses and the actions that can be taken. We do not wish to impose penalties due to their youth; we understand," as reported by Live Law.
