B. Jaya was born on January 11, 1964, in Ravulapalem, located in the East Godavari district. She earned her MA in English Literature and a Diploma in Journalism from Chennai University, in addition to an MA in Psychology from Annamalai University. Jaya initiated her career as a film journalist at Andhra Jyoti Daily and later contributed to the Indian Express, gaining recognition as a vibrant and assertive individual. Her candidness and ability to articulate her views distinguished her in the field. Her writings in various magazines attracted considerable attention, leading her to transition into the direction department, where she served as an assistant director on multiple projects.

During this period, she married BA Raju, who was also establishing himself as a film journalist and public relations officer in the industry. Together, they shared responsibilities and demonstrated unwavering commitment to their respective roles. In 1994, B. Jaya and BA Raju launched Superhit Film Weekly, which rapidly gained acclaim. Their dedication ensured that 'Superhit' became the leading film weekly, as they consistently delivered the publication on schedule without interruption until their final days, exemplifying their commitment to their work.
