Veteran actress Zeenat Aman has openly shared her experiences in the Hindi film industry, highlighting the significant changes that have occurred over the past few decades. She has previously emphasized that the issue of the ‘gender pay gap’ persists. During her speech at The Hollywood Reporter India’s Women In Entertainment awards, Zeenat revisited this topic, encouraging women to advocate for equal pay.

Zeenat's Remarks

At the ceremony, Zeenat received the Iconic Artist award from fellow actress Sushmita Sen. Grateful for the audience's standing ovation, she expressed her appreciation for the honour. In her address, she remarked, “While we celebrate women in entertainment, it is crucial to acknowledge that all women deserve recognition, not just those in our industry.”

‘Reflecting on Over 50 Years…’

She continued, “This is a remarkable gathering. I recall over 50 years ago when I was often the sole woman on set. It is truly uplifting to witness the presence of women in every aspect of filmmaking today. I take great pride in the strides made in the corporate sector as well. However, I must stress the importance of advocating for pay parity. From my viewpoint, significant progress has been made, so let’s celebrate that. Thank you.”

In terms of her upcoming projects, Zeenat will appear in the Netflix series The Royals, set to premiere later this year, alongside Ishan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar. Additionally, she has a role in the film Bun Tikki, directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, which also features Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol.
