Sonakshi Sinha got married to the love of her life, Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23, 2024. Before their wedding took place, reports were claiming that Shatrughan Sinha was upset with his daughter's inter-faith marriage with Zaheer. Rubbishing all speculations, Shatrughan attended his daughter and Zaheer's wedding and blessed the couple. Now, in an interview with Galatta India, Zaheer recalled the time she went to ask the veteran actor for his permission to marry Sonakshi.

In conversation with the above-mentioned portal, Zaheer Iqbal said he was scared when he went to get permission from Shatrughan Sinha to marry Sonakshi. The actor said, "When I had to go take permission to propose, I was so scared. I was shaking and main baat kar raha hoon, aur pata chale wo mujhe bol de ‘Khaamosh.’ But he was so nice about it, he was so lovely."

Iqbal admitted that he stammered while asking the senior actor if he knew Sonakshi had informed him about their relationship. "I thought, ‘You don’t know where I am going with this?’ (laughs). I then said, ‘Uncle, main soch raha tha, main thoda, main thoda nahi pura propose kar deta hoon (Uncle, I am thinking about proposing Sonakshi)." 

Reacting to this, Shatrughan mentioned, "Acha, very good." Following this, Zaheer had a one-hour-long conversation with the veteran actor about a lot of things. "But I was really scared when I entered that room. If he would have said no, what would I have done?," reveled Zaheer.

Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal were in a relationship for 7 years before exchanging wedding vows with each other. The actors decided to get married on June 23, as it was the same date they fell in love with each other in 2017. Cut to now, the couple is happily married.

On the work front, Zaheer was seen with Sonakshi in Double XL, which was released last year in theatres.
