Yash officially announces start of Toxic shoot; fans have one question

8 months after KVN Productions officially announced the title and director of Rocking Star Yash’s much-awaited 19th film, it is finally on floors. Months of intense scrutiny and speculation is, hopefully over, as Yash took to social media to post a picture with the banner’s founder Venkat K Narayana, which he captioned, “The journey begins #Toxic”.

Toxic announcement was expected on August 8

Yash’s recent Dharmasthala visit with his family and Venkat in tow had spread rumours that an announcement was imminent and that the team was all set to begin shooting, which was later confirmed by trade expert Taran Adarsh, who also highlighted the importance of the number 8 for Yash. So, while the actor’s post this morning did not come as a surprise, and fans showered it with a lot of love, what a lot of them asked, thereafter, is if they will get to see more of this journey unfold. All eyes are now on the social media pages of the actor and the banner.

Ever since Yash was done and dusted with KGF: Chapter 2, which was a monstrous hit, the question on everyone’s mind was, who would he collaborate with next and on what kind of movie? Several filmmakers’ names did the rounds, but one that was oft heard was that of Malayalam director Geethu Mohandas, whose last film is the Nivin Pauly-starrer Moothon. This was confirmed in December last year, along with the title of the film, and since then, there’s been radio silence from the entire team of Toxic, although it was the subject of a lot of speculation, especially with regard to casting.

Netizens have been following the official IMDB page of the film and carefully scrutinizing Yash’s social media following for any new followers of note. If anyone even remotely associated with cinema began following Yash or Geetu shortly before or after the December 8 announcement, they were thought to be a part of Toxic.

According to reports, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi are said to be a part of the main cast, with Shruthi Haasan, who sang the title announcement track, also said to be in the mix. Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas is rumoured to be one of the antagonists of Toxic, which is supposedly a period film based on the drug mafia.
