Actor Yami Gautam and filmmaker Aditya Dhar embraced parenthood for the first time last year with the arrival of their son, Vedavid. As Yami resumes her professional commitments following a short maternity leave, she is actively promoting her latest film, Dhoom Dhaam, during which she shared her insights on motherhood and her son, Vedavid.

Yami Gautam on son Vedavid

In a conversation with News 18 Showsha, Yami discussed the profound impact motherhood has had on her life. "Becoming a mother transforms your existence in every conceivable way, particularly for mothers. Regardless of your previous experiences or career, this marks an entirely new chapter in your life, one for which you are never truly prepared. The joy is overwhelming; it is the greatest blessing, yet it is also a novel experience that leaves you feeling vulnerable. This journey is deeply personal, as it is something you must navigate on your own, without formal guidance. There is a sense of nervousness, with numerous factors to consider, but ultimately, it is those innocent eyes looking up at you, seeking love, that matter most. If it were entirely up to me, I could simply sit there for hours, doing nothing," she expressed.

Furthermore, Yami disclosed that she and Aditya Dhar have made a conscious decision to shield their son Vedavid from media exposure, allowing him the opportunity to experience a typical childhood. She elaborated, “You will not see him. This is a personal choice that Aditya and I have made. I believe every child deserves a childhood akin to that of their peers. The psychological implications are significant, and we want him to relish this life and appreciate this blessing."

Yami Gautam's personal life and career

On 10 May 2024, they welcomed their first child, a son named Vedavid. Yami's most recent appearance on the silver screen was in Article 370, which premiered last year. She is set to appear in Dhoom Dhaam next, a film that also features Pratik Gandhi and is directed by Rishab Seth. The release is scheduled for 14 February on Netflix.
