Notably, during the same discussion, he mentioned that he has been in negotiations with Akshay regarding the potential creation of Garam Masala 2, Desi Boyz 2, or possibly both!

According to Pinkvilla, when John was inquired about a potential reunion with Akshay, he stated: “I speak to Akshay occasionally.” He also added: “Naturally, I communicate with Rohit Dhawan quite often. He is a very close friend—more than just a director. He feels like a younger brother to me. He has directed two films with me, Desi Boyz and Dishoom. Therefore, I maintain regular contact with him.”

In discussing the potential for Garam Masala 2 or Desi Boyz 2, John expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Absolutely, we are thrilled at the prospect of bringing either or both of these films to life, as they promise to be a lot of fun. Collaborating with Akshay feels like a vacation for me. He is an excellent person, and we consistently enjoy ourselves. I would be overjoyed if this comes to fruition! I have a passion for comedies. When attending the theater, audiences seek laughter, and I believe comedies are simply the finest.”

During the conversation, John also playfully took a dig at Akshay Kumar being crowned as Bollywood’s most disciplined actor—a title he believes he deserves just as much, if not more!

When shown a picture of himself with Akshay, John joked: “That image perfectly reflects our relationship. We genuinely share a strong bond. We do the ‘boy thing’—we just have a great time together. We both wake up early, we both sleep early, and yes, he’s very disciplined. But honestly, I think I’m a little more disciplined. However, I’ll let him keep that throne of being the most disciplined actor.”
