Rani Mukerji made her Bollywood debut with Raja Ki Aayegi Barat. After venturing into the acting space, the actress went on to feature in several Hindi films, including Ghulam. Rani shared screen space with Aamir Khan in the film. For the movie, the makers decided to use a dubbing artist for the actress' voice as they weren't sure if Rani's voice would suit the film. However, the actress recently revealed that her co-star Aamir was made to become the 'bad cop' in that situation.

In an interview with Galatta India, Rani Mukerji revealed that there was chatter in the edit rooms that she had a different voice. However, in the past, it was common for the actress to have their voice dubbed in films. Rani cited an example of the late actress Sridevi, who got her voice dubbed in many movies.

Revealing what Aamir told her during Ghulam, the actress mentioned, "‘Rani, you know your favourite actress is Sridevi, her voice was dubbed in so many films. It doesn’t matter. We have to do what’s best for our film’. He was made to become the bad cop at that point in time. But I don’t think they put very much thought into it." 

Rani added that the makers just wanted to play it safe for the movie Ghulam. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film, starring Aamir and Rani, was released in 1998. The story of the film was penned by Anjum Rajabali.

Rani Mukerji's work front

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rani Mukerji was last seen in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. The actress played the titular role in the movie, which hit the silver screen on March 17, 2023. Directed by Ashima Chibber, the film was backed by Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani.

Apart from that, the actress has done many films like Mardaani 2, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Mardaani, Hichki, Mardaani, Aiyyaa, No One Killed Jessica, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai among others.
