SS Rajamouli has officially commenced production on his much-anticipated film starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra in the principal roles. Priyanka Chopra completed several days of filming before travelling to Mumbai to participate in her brother's wedding.

Vijayendra Prasad gives the latest update on SSMB29

The team is presently engaged in filming individual scenes featuring Mahesh Babu at the Aluminium Factory located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, in her absence. A substantial set has been constructed for the film, which is an adventure thriller written by Vijayendra Prasad, the father of Rajamouli.

In a recent interview, the esteemed writer explained his choice of genre for SSMB29. "Mahesh has not previously explored this genre, and Indian cinema has not yet produced a large-scale, high-budget adventure thriller. Furthermore, the film is intended for international audiences, making an adventure thriller an ideal choice. This was a significant factor in our decision to develop the story within this genre," Prasad stated.

It is noteworthy that few are aware of the fact that SS Kanchi, a cousin of Rajamouli, worked alongside Rajamouli and Vijayendra Prasad on the script for more than a year. Following extensive planning, the team eventually began filming.

The film, which has yet to be titled, draws inspiration from the works of South African writer Wilbur Smith; however, Rajamouli and his team have tailored the narrative to align with an Indian context. A considerable segment of the film is set to be filmed in South Africa, ensuring stunning visuals and a distinctive cinematic experience.

Shooting of SSMB29 is happening in Hyderabad

As previously reported by OTTplay, Rajamouli is set to recreate the Manikarnika Ghat from Kashi in Hyderabad shortly. In addition, Mahesh Babu will debut a completely new appearance, details of which have been kept confidential. To ensure this secrecy, Rajamouli has instituted stringent security protocols, and reports indicate that any unauthorized disclosures from the set will incur financial penalties for both the cast and crew.

With a substantial budget, an ambitious narrative, and Rajamouli’s exceptional direction, SSMB29 is emerging as one of the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema.
