On March 14, in celebration of Aamir Khan's 60th birthday, PVR INOX unveiled a special film festival titled Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar, honoring the actor's significant impact on Indian cinema. The trailer launch for this festival featured the presence of renowned lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar. During the event, Aamir revealed that Javed Akhtar had initially advised him against participating in some of his most iconic films, including Lagaan and Rang De Basanti.

At the launch of the trailer, Aamir Khan discussed his collaboration with Javed Akhtar, stating, “Javed saab advised me against taking on Lagaan. He questioned, ‘What are you doing? There is everything wrong with this film. How can the hero wear a dhoti? You are in a dhoti. A hero cannot exist in a period story.’ Nevertheless, I was convinced and proceeded with the project.” 

Lagaan premiered in 2001 under the direction of Ashutosh Gowariker. The film, featuring Aamir Khan, achieved significant success both at the box office and in critical acclaim. It also received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 74th Academy Awards.

'Bina hero ke kaise hogi?'

Aamir mentioned that Javed saab advised him against participating in Rang De Basanti, stating, “The climax lacks a hero. How can it succeed without one? The lead actor is merely playing a minor role.” However, Aamir emphasized, “I always prioritize the film.” For him, the film holds greater significance than himself or any other actors involved. Therefore, he commits to all necessary actions to ensure the film's success.

Rang De Basanti, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, premiered in 2006 and featured actors such as Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, Siddharth, and Soha Ali Khan. The film achieved remarkable box office success and garnered numerous awards.

A special film festival is scheduled to begin on March 14, coinciding with Aamir Khan’s birthday, and will run until March 27.
