Actress and singer Mckenna Grace has been selected to play Maysilee Donner in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, which is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026. Joseph Zada will take on the role of a young Haymitch Abernathy, while Whitney Peak has been chosen to play his girlfriend, Lenore Dove Baird.

“The Hunger Games franchise has historically served as a platform for extraordinary young talent, and Jo and Whitney continue that tradition with remarkable passion, depth, and intensity,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-President Erin Westerman shared with Deadline.

“Following auditions with hundreds of talented individuals from across the globe, these two captured our attention — not only for their skills but for the emotional authenticity they infused into these legendary roles. Haymitch has always been a fan favorite, and his backstory is one of the most eagerly awaited in the franchise. His connection with Lenore Dove is intricately tied to the emotional tapestry of Panem. We are excited for fans to engage with the narrative that formed one of the most fascinating characters in the series. ”

Who's Mckenna Grace?

Mckenna Grace became well-known for her role as young Carol Danvers in ‘Captain Marvel. ’ She subsequently played Phoebe Spengler in ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ and its follow-up, ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. ’ She also appeared in ‘I, Tonya’ and ‘Troop Zero. ’

The 18-year-old actress is set to star in ‘Regretting You,’ Paramount’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling book. It is scheduled to debut in October this year.

She will also lead in Blumhouse’s ‘Kiss of Death,’ followed by a role in the eagerly awaited sequel ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. ’

Grace is involved in ‘Scream 7’ and will additionally feature in Lionsgate’s political thriller ‘Anniversary. ’
