It has been just days since The White Lotus closed out its third season, but the buzz around the hit HBO series is far from over. While fans dissect every twist and turn from the finale, series creator Mike White added fuel to the conversation by revealing on the post-show podcast that a steamy sex scene was filmed—but never made it to air.
What was the deleted sex scene about?
The omitted sex scene featured Piper, one of the Ratliff children portrayed by Sarah Catherine Hook, who seduces Zion, played by Nicholas Duvernay. Earlier in the season, Patrick Schwarzenegger’s character, Saxon, who is Piper’s brother, makes a comment regarding her virginity. Following a disastrous overnight stay at the monastery, Piper resolves to lose her virginity and subsequently encounters Zion at a restaurant.
However, this scene was excluded from the series as White believed the 90-minute finale was already overloaded. He explained, “It would have added 10 minutes to the thing. And it had a little bit of a rom-com vibe in the middle of trying to kill the family with the pong-pong fruits. It just felt like I was trying to do too much narratively,” as reported by Men’s Journal.
White offered $500,000 for the deleted sex scene
An CamSoda, an adult entertainment platform, has expressed a strong interest in acquiring a deleted scene from HBO Max, offering a substantial sum of $500,000 for the clip. In addition to this offer, the company has proposed to pay actors Hook and Duvernay the same amount to participate in a live Q&A session or to reenact the scene, as stated by a company spokesperson to Men’s Journal.
The correspondence from CamSoda stated, “There have been rumors about a tantalizing deleted scene from The White Lotus Season 3 that eager fans are anxious to view. This particular scene features Piper making significant strides in her personal journey and revealing her adventurous side with Zion. While we understand that editing choices are made, there is a strong desire to see what lies beneath the glamorous exterior and reserved demeanor. We believe she has a hidden wild side that deserves to be showcased.”
The letter continued, “We would like to propose an offer of up to $500,000 to HBO Max for the exclusive rights to present this unreleased scene on CamSoda. As of now, HBO Max has not yet replied to the proposal.
