Eight years ago, Val Kilmer hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, welcoming inquiries from the public. During this event, he shared insights about his role in the 1995 film Heat.
Kilmer, who first gained fame with Top Gun, recently passed away at the age of 65. His daughter revealed that pneumonia was the cause of his death. He had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014.
‘Imagine being able to say, "Al and Bob" for the rest of your life’
On a Reddit forum, a user inquired of Kilmer, “What was your experience like working on Heat?”
Kilmer responded, “Just think about being able to say, 'Al and Bob' for the rest of your life,” referencing his co-stars Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. “Not many individuals can claim that. I recall seeing Bob, laughing like a schoolgirl in a van late at night, trying to keep quiet because filming was taking place outside... I have been embraced by Al Pacino in downtown LA as if he were my older brother.”
“I have fired live rounds from high-powered assault rifles over Bob's head while we rehearsed lines from our film. I had the opportunity to kiss Ashley Judd. At times, I stayed at Michael Mann's residence. I am part of one of the greatest cop-and-robber films in cinematic history, certainly among the top 20. I am even featured on the poster! What an honor! It was a priceless experience to observe all the actors in action. We all put in a lot of effort, but when you are surrounded by icons, you really step up your game. I cherished every moment of it,” he concluded.

Kilmer is known for his roles as Jim Morrison in The Doors, Doc Holliday in Tombstone, and Batman in Batman Forever. He also appeared in The Saint (1997), Willow (1988), and Top Gun: Maverick. He also wrote and released the book ‘I’m Your Huckleberry: A Memoir,’ which became a New York Times bestseller.
