Whenever Shah Rukh Khan enters the limelight, both critics and audiences commend his exceptional acting skills, which he has refined throughout his illustrious career. One of his most celebrated performances was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, where he took center stage alongside talented co-stars such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, and Kirron Kher, effectively embodying the complex character of Devdas. Recently, Sikandar Kher, the son of the film's assistant director Kirron Kher, shared his reflections on his experiences during the filming.
Sikandar Kher recalls his time on the sets of Devdas
In a recent appearance on the Tape A Tale YouTube channel, Kher looked back on his time working on Devdas. He noted that, as with all of Bhansali's films, he had expressed a desire to document the production process, given the film's significant scale and the excitement surrounding it. He commented on the challenges filmmakers face in generating enthusiasm for their projects, but emphasized that Bhansali's meticulous approach ensures that audiences remain engaged throughout the film's development.
Kher ended up capturing 22 hours of footage with Shah Rukh's impressive setup, which included a handycam equipped with various lenses and a tripod, despite initially struggling to secure one. He shared that he utilized night vision on his camera to document the moment when the superstar accidentally injured his finger while breaking bottles.
Shah Rukh Khan's generosity on set
Reiterating his previous praise, Kher described Shah Rukh as remarkable. Based on his observations, he considers him the most generous actor he has ever encountered. Everyone he has spoken to about their experiences working with Shah Rukh agrees that he is an exceptional presence on set. To enhance the scenes, SRK is known to offer his own lines to others, demonstrating his confidence and commitment to the project.
Even during the production of Devdas, Shah Rukh Khan's dedication was widely acknowledged. Vikramaditya Motwane noted that the superstar would apply honey to his face to simulate the appearance of a dying man attracting flies. His mind is perpetually engaged in finding ways to enhance the overall experience. Shah Rukh, positioned on the right, demonstrates that the small details he incorporates into his films can have a significant effect. The filmmaker also shared with The Lallantop that King Khan possesses a unique ability to make everyone feel like a VIP.
Sikandar Kher has recently showcased his acting talent in films such as Monica O My Darling (2022) and Monkey Man (2024). His latest appearance was in the web series Chidiya Udd, where he starred alongside Flora Saini and Jackie Shroff.
