Actor Vineet Kumar Singh continues to revel in the success of his recent project, Chhaava. However, it is a previous endeavor that holds a special place in his heart, particularly due to an unexpected acknowledgment from Ranbir Kapoor.

Vineet recently recounted the astonishment he felt when Ranbir personally reached out to commend his performance in Anurag Kashyap's critically acclaimed film, Ugly, released in 2013. Initially, Vineet was skeptical, questioning whether the call was a prank, and he took the precaution of verifying the identity of the caller.

Vineet looks back

Reflecting on the experience, Vineet shared with ABP Entertainment the moment he received the call from Ranbir, expressing his admiration for the actor's work. He recounted, “I appreciate Ranbir Kapoor’s performances. When he viewed Ugly in 2013, I received a call from someone who introduced himself as ‘Hello Vineet, this is Ranbir.’ My immediate thought was that I did not have any acquaintances named Ranbir. I responded, ‘Yes, who is this?’ At that time, Ugly had not yet premiered, yet he had already seen it. I was in disbelief when he confirmed his identity as Ranbir Kapoor. Such an occurrence had not happened to me in the past 13 years.”

He continued, “I suspected that one of my mischievous friends was playing a joke on me, so I asked again, ‘Who is this, please tell me?’ Eventually, it was confirmed that it was indeed him. We conversed for quite some time, and he shared many kind words about Ugly.”

Vineet also expressed his appreciation for actors who take the time to recognize and commend the efforts of their peers, describing it as a "beautiful thing." He mentioned that whenever he observes Ranbir's commendable work in any project, he makes it a point to reach out and convey his thoughts. Vineet emphasized the mutual respect that exists between them.

Vineet gets his due

At present, Vineet is enjoying the accolades he has received for his role in Laxman Utekar's Chhaava. The film has achieved remarkable success, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, with a worldwide box office collection exceeding ₹500 crore. The cast includes Vicky Kaushal portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Akshaye Khanna in the role of Aurangzeb, Vineet as Kavi Kalash, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai, among other prominent actors.
