Director Ahmed Khan's Welcome to the Jungle is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Starring Akshay Kumar and an ensemble star cast, the comic caper is reportedly set to release in December this year. Veteran actor Zakir Hussain is also an integral part of Welcome to the Jungle. When the film's promo was released, he was a part of Welcome to the Jungle's battalion. However, the senior actor told OTTplay that he has taken up a new character in the Ahmed Khan directorial.

In an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, Zakir Hussain shared an update about Welcome to the Jungle and his character in the comic caper. The senior actor said, "It will be made and kaam chal hi raha hain (it is a work in progress). But initially, when the promo was shot, I was a part of the battalion. But I am no longer a part of the battalion, I am playing a different role."

He further mentioned, "I was earlier a part of it (battalion) but later kuch clashes hue dates ke (date issues). I told (the makers) taaki aap bhi naraz na ho, main isme ye wala role kar leta hoon (I will do another role)'. Toh ek hain usme character 4-5 din ka. So, I said I am happy with this and I will do it."

Is Welcome to the Jungle delayed?

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Welcome to the Jungle's release has been delayed. However, filmmaker Ahmed Khan debunked this speculation. "There is no truth to these rumours. The film is on track and we are kickstarting our next leg of the marathon schedule internationally from October for which my technical team has already left for the first recce," he said, in an official statement.

70% of Welcome to the Jungle's shoot is already completed. The comic caper has wrapped its marathon schedule in Mumbai and Kashmir. Apart from Akshay Kumar and Zakir Hussain, the film features Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueliene Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Johnny Lever, and others.
