For the first time in her professional journey, Wamiqa Gabbi ventures into the realm of comedy with Maddock Films' forthcoming romantic comedy, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directed by Karan Sharma. The film features Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa in leading roles and is scheduled for release on May 9, 2025.

During the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Wamiqa shared insights about her experience in embracing a comedic role and the significant support she received from her team. “Collaborating with Dinesh sir has been a true blessing,” she expressed with appreciation. “There are few individuals who extend such trust to actors. When he recognizes potential, he invests in it and provides opportunities. I am genuinely grateful to him for believing in me.”

Reflecting on her collaboration with Rajkummar Rao, she admitted to feeling apprehensive initially. “I felt quite intimidated working alongside Raj. I kept asking Karan, sir, ‘Please inform me if I’m making any mistakes.’ I was putting in considerable effort, but both he and Raj ensured I felt at ease. Raj would reassure me, saying, ‘We are here; don’t worry, if anything goes awry—we’ll manage it together.’”

Wamiqa attributed her performance to the support of her co-star and director. “If I have succeeded in portraying this role even slightly well, it is thanks to Raj and Karan, sir. They ensured I could perform with confidence. This has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my career—it felt enchanting. Everyone involved in the film was joyful, and that positive energy was palpable on set.”

She also addressed her initial uncertainties about tackling comedy as a genre. “I always harbored doubts about my ability to execute comedy effectively. I was unsure if I could truly perform it in front of the camera—it’s challenging. However, working with Raj and the rest of the cast has taught me a great deal about comic timing. I have gained so much knowledge, and now I feel fully prepared to embrace more comedic roles.”
