Comedian Samay Raina has found himself at the centre of controversy following remarks made by Ranveer Allahbadia during his program, India's Got Latent. After offering a public apology, Samay received backing from filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri. Nevertheless, Vivek's choice to connect Samay's predicament to the Kashmiri Pandit issue has left social media users perplexed.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri opines

The filmmaker utilized X, previously referred to as Twitter, to express his support for Samay in light of his recent public apology regarding the ongoing matters.

“Today, as a Kashmiri Pandit, @ReheSamay must have felt the weight of being targeted by those who oppose you. Welcome to the club,” he stated in his post.

Vivek was replying to a post made by Samay, which he shared on Wednesday. On that same day, Samay Raina addressed the ongoing controversy. He took to Twitter (now known as X) to announce that he had removed all episodes of the show and would fully cooperate with the authorities. He stated, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you. (folded hands emoji).”

Fans confused

Vivek's tweet generated significant intrigue across social media platforms, leading to a surge of comments from users who expressed their confusion. Numerous individuals took to the comment section to request that Vivek clarify the relationship between the two seemingly unrelated subjects.

"Is this related to the Kashmiri Pandit situation?" one user inquired, while another remarked, "It is foolish of you to draw a comparison between these two events."

"What is the connection to the Kashmiri Pandit issue, and who is the one being lynched?" asked another participant. A different user commented, "This comparison is inappropriate. Speaking the truth and facing backlash is one matter, while creating indecent content and receiving criticism is another. Truth and indecency should not be conflated."

"That analogy is flawed; equating this with the Kashmiri Pandit issue is, in fact, an affront to the KPs," stated one commenter, while another questioned, "What relevance does the KP situation have in this context?"

"This connection is entirely nonsensical. While it may have philosophical undertones, it is not suitable," shared another user.

All about India's Got Latent controversy

During his appearance on Samay's India’s Got Latent, Ranveer made a comment regarding parents that was poorly received by both viewers and social media users, leading to significant backlash. Ranveer, widely recognized as BeerBiceps, has since expressed regret for what he termed a "lapse in judgement." In a video posted on his social media, he stated, “My comment was not only inappropriate, but it also lacked humor. Comedy is not my strength; I am here to extend my apologies.” He further emphasized, “Disrespecting family is the last thing I would ever consider.”

Despite the apologies issued by both individuals, the controversy continues to escalate. An FIR has been lodged against the show's team, including Samay and Ranveer, for allegedly presenting ‘objectionable’ content.
