One of the most surprising developments in recent times has been the unrest in Nagpur, which has generated a climate of tension throughout the nation. As the situation escalates, the controversy has now extended to Bollywood, with Vicky Kaushal's forthcoming film Chhaava being accused of inciting protests against Aurangzeb’s tomb in Nagpur. The issue gained additional attention when Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis referenced Chhaava in his remarks on the matter.

In response to the controversy, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has asserted that the "Urban Naxal ecosystem" is targeting both Chhaava and his own film, The Kashmir Files, for their role in awakening public consciousness.

Vivek Agnihotri Says Chhaava Is Under Attack

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has consistently expressed his views on socio-political matters. His films have ignited significant yet divisive discussions, and he remains candid about his opinions. In light of the violence in Nagpur, Agnihotri has claimed that a "cultural jihad" is being launched against films such as The Kashmir Files and Chhaava.

Taking to social media, he stated: “The #UrbanNaxal ecosystem is conducting a cultural jihad against our films—#TheKashmirFiles and #Chhaava are under siege because they have the audacity to awaken the nation. We must defeat them in this struggle.”

His comments were made in response to claims that films like Chhaava, The Kashmir Files, and The Sabarmati Report are exacerbating social divisions. A social media user remarked: “The Kashmir Files polarized society. The Sabarmati Report polarized society. The Chhaava movie polarized society. However, The Kerala Story did not affect even 0.001% of Kerala's social fabric. I have great respect for the people of Kerala.”

Agnihotri replied: “Prior to #TheKashmirFiles, society was not polarized at all. Muslim terrorists in Kashmir were assisting Hindus in locating their homes and the remains of their loved ones. The JKLF never existed. Observe how, in Bengal, Islamists aid in the removal of the bodies of Hindu women hanging from trees.”

Vivek Agnihotri is in the process of directing his upcoming film, The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter. This project is a collaborative production between Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, with presentation by Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha Productions.
