Mechanic Rocky is all set to hit the screens on November 22, 2024. Vishwak Sen plays the lead and speaks to us about the hidden twists in the film, his seven-year journey in Tollywood, being brash, and focusing on films that project him as an actor more than a star. Here is the transcript:
The trailer looks quite routine. What do you have to say about it?
Mechanic Rocky is a film that is very dear to me. There is a hidden twist that cannot be showcased in the trailer. If we reveal any scenes related to the twist, the plot would be spoiled. There is a hidden agenda in our film. Let the audience come to the theaters expecting a masala entertainer, but we will surprise everyone with the gripping narration.
What made you show faith in debut director Ravi Teja Mullapudi?
Ravi Teja has worked on one of my earlier films, and I have been traveling with him for a long time now. The moment he narrated the story of Mechanic Rocky, I was surprised and decided to work with him right away. I guarantee that all those who watch Mechanic Rocky will not believe that a first-timer has directed the film. Ravi has done a fantastic job and has a bright career ahead.
Working with the likes of Meenakshi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath?
Not many know that when I was directing Falaknuma Das, I approached Shraddha Srinath for the lead role, but she rejected the film. Now, she is playing the main lead and has a very impactful role, which is a key aspect of the film. Meenakshi Chaudhary is very hardworking and is a bonus to our film. She plays the girl next door and has done so well in the movie.
What are the highlights of Mechanic Rocky?
The second half of Mechanic Rocky is completely gripping. I can confidently say that the audience will neither look at their mobiles nor get distracted. There is a genre shift, and the scenes that follow are thrilling. The director, Ravi Teja, has beautifully combined commercial entertainment with emotion.
Why was the film delayed for such a long time?
Initially, there were date issues with a few actors, and then some production hassles delayed the film. But my producer, Ram Talluri, stuck with the project and is so confident that he’s planning premiere shows two days in advance. Despite the delays, Mechanic Rocky has a contemporary message that will resonate with the audience.
You have completed seven years in the industry. How do you feel?
Touchwood, things have been going great for me. Frankly, I would have been in a better position if not for the few mistakes I made. But that is life, and you learn from it every day. I now understand the pulse of the audience and plan to do films with strong content that showcase me in a never-before-seen manner. I have some great films lined up in the coming days.
You are a very aggressive person with no filter. Have you faced issues in the industry because of your personality?
I am very open-minded. If anyone trolls me or speaks ill of me, I don’t hold back and give it back right then and there. Yes, I’ve faced several issues, but understanding how the industry works, I decided to stay true to myself. Speaking without a filter has worked for me, and my fans appreciate that about me.
You have never experimented with your looks. Will you ever sport a six-pack in the future?
I haven’t yet received a role that challenges me as an actor. Now that you’ve asked, I’m announcing a new film in March 2025, and you’ll see me in a crazy new avatar with a chiseled body.
