Telugu actor Vishwak Sen's latest film, Laila, has predominantly garnered negative reviews, with critics highlighting its vulgarity and crude representation. In response to this backlash, the actor recently issued a statement expressing his regret regarding the film's reception.
Vishwak Sen apologises for Laila's failure
Laila, a Telugu film released in 2025, features Vishwak Sen in the leading role. He portrays a beauty parlour owner who finds himself in a predicament and disguises himself as a woman to evade law enforcement.
The film premiered on February 14, and shortly thereafter, it faced a wave of unfavorable critiques. Vishwak Sen publicly apologized for the film's shortcomings, acknowledging that his recent projects have not lived up to audience expectations. He expressed his willingness to accept the constructive criticism directed at his latest work.
"I sincerely apologize. My aim has always been to present something innovative to the audience, and I hold the feedback I have received in high regard... If I produce a subpar film, you are entirely justified in criticizing me, as it is you who have supported me with unwavering love during my challenging times," Vishwak stated.
Vishwak Sen promises to do good films in future
The actor further assured that he would prioritize quality in his future projects and expressed his appreciation for the producers and distributors who have placed their trust in him throughout his career. He concluded his message with a promise to return with compelling scripts.
Directed by Ram Narayan, Laila faced significant criticism for its vulgar content and failed to receive any redeeming qualities. An OTTplay review remarked, "Cringe-worthy dialogues, cheap gimmicks, and exaggerated scenarios diminish its value rapidly. Vishwak Sen must select better scripts if he wishes to maintain his talent's integrity, as films like Laila could tarnish the positive reputation he has cultivated over the years."
