The situation unfolded on Sunday when reports emerged regarding escalating tensions between Mohan Babu and his son, actor Manchu Manoj. Following a dispute, both parties contacted emergency services, alleging an assault, and Manoj was later seen undergoing a medical examination. On Wednesday, Mohan’s elder son, actor Vishnu Manchu, who had recently returned to India from Los Angeles, addressed the matter during a press conference in Hyderabad.
Vishnu Manchu on the family feud
On Tuesday evening, Manchu Manoj was barred from entering his father's property in Jalpally following a police complaint lodged by Mohan, which accused him and his wife, Bhuma Mounika, of assault. In an attempt to gain access, Manoj brought members of the press with him, leading to a physical confrontation between Mohan and one of the journalists.
After announcing his father's hospitalization on Wednesday, Vishnu addressed the media, stating, “The only error my father has made is loving us all deeply. No family is without flaws, and I still hold onto the hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My father did not mean to harm the reporter; he merely reacted to an invasion of his personal space in a moment of heightened emotion. I am in contact with the reporter’s family, as the incident was regrettable. However, I have no authority to correct my father’s actions.”
Mohan Vishnu further informed the press that he had also been summoned by the Rachakonda police, in addition to his father. “I was not even in the country, but I will meet with them out of respect,” he stated. When questioned about Mohan’s assertion in an audio message that Manoj has a drinking problem, allegedly supported by his wife, the actor declined to comment. He added, “I refuse to discuss my family matters; why should I disclose that?”
When asked if the family disapproves of Manoj's marriage to Mounika, contrary to Mohan's claims in the audio note, he responded, “He (Manoj) is married now, has a child, and I wish him a long life filled with health and prosperity. The marriage is certainly not the problem. My father has toiled for every rupee he possesses today; all he desires is for my brother not to reside in his home.”
Vishnu also emphasized that any involvement he has in the dispute is solely at his father's request.
Manchu Manoj reiterates his issue with family
Manoj addressed the media following his visit to the Rachakonda police station on Wednesday evening. He informed PTI, “The police have assured us of their protection. Regrettably, my father assaulted the reporter; any form of attack is unacceptable. I acknowledge that it was a mistake to invite the press into our home, but I acted out of a sense of helplessness.”
He further clarified that contrary to the statements made by his father Mohan and brother Vishnu, his mother has not been admitted to the hospital. “She is at home with my wife and children; the claim that she has been hospitalized is false. I am willing to engage in discussions to resolve all matters unrelated to my property concerns. My primary issue has always been the management of the (Mohan Babu) University. The police have already detained an individual to investigate the disappearance of the CCTV footage related to the attack on me,” Manoj stated.
On Wednesday morning, Manoj expressed his regrets to the media regarding the incident. He remarked, “I wish to extend my apologies to the media on behalf of myself and my father. Please consider me as one of your own and forgive me; I am truly sorry. I was uncomfortable with your presence during this incident. I do not appreciate the involvement of my wife’s name in this matter; we have never solicited money or property from anyone. I returned home because my wife was expecting, my brother (Vishnu) had relocated to Dubai, and my parents were living alone. Was it wrong for me to marry the woman I love?”
