Vishal Kotian is poised to portray the significant character of Vishwaraj in the highly anticipated historical drama series Shringarika, set to premiere on the Atrangii app on January 17th. The series is expected to deliver a compelling blend of drama, revenge, action, romance, and profound emotional narratives, with Vishal likening it to India's version of Game of Thrones.

In a recent exclusive interview, Vishal discussed his character, the rigorous preparation required, and the challenges associated with embodying such a multifaceted role.

Regarding the series, he remarked, “Shringarika consists of 60 episodes and encompasses a wide array of themes – drama, revenge, action, romance, desire, and empathy. This is India’s Game of Thrones, and I am confident that the audience will be captivated by it."

Vishal emphasized that taking on the role of Vishwaraj is markedly different from the typical roles in television serials, where actors often perform in daily episodes, return home, and prepare for the next. In Shringarika, the character necessitates complete immersion, making the experience both mentally and physically taxing.

“When you engage with a character in a TV series, you complete the episode, return home, and come back the following day for the next. However, in a series or film, you genuinely inhabit the character. It presents a significant challenge. Vishwaraj is a complex figure with various dimensions – from embodying negativity to experiencing love, and even facing disability. This role carries substantial emotional weight,” Vishal explained.

To embody the character of Vishwaraj, Vishal engaged in extensive physical and emotional preparation, which included alterations to his appearance. He dedicated considerable effort to his hair, beard, and overall physique to authentically portray a warrior prince.

“It required immense preparation. The hair, beard, and body demanded significant effort. There were injuries along the way, but the show must continue,” Vishal reflects on the commitment necessary to preserve the character's authenticity.

Taking on such a complex and intense role presents its unique challenges. Vishal acknowledges that portraying Vishwaraj had a profound impact on him, and he needed time to separate himself from the character.

“Now I comprehend why actors seek therapy after performing such demanding roles. After immersing myself in a character for 100 days, it lingers in your mind. Just like Ranbir after Animal, Ranveer after Padmavat, and Shahid after Kabir Singh – it’s a similar experience. When you inhabit such a character for an extended period, it exacts a mental toll. It took me nearly a week to detach from the character,” Vishal confesses.

With Shringarika poised to be one of the year's most significant releases, Vishal Kotian’s interpretation of Vishwaraj is set to enthral audiences with its depth, drama, and splendour.

The show will be available for streaming on Atrangii starting January 17.
