Recently, Reddit users were taken aback upon discovering a Turkish actor who closely resembles the Indian cricketer, leading to humorous speculation about it being Virat's debut on television.

Reddit shocked by Turkish actor's resemblance to Virat Kohli

On Monday, a Reddit user posted a screenshot from the well-known Turkish series Diriliş: Ertuğrul, showcasing Turkish actor Cavit Çetin Güner. The accompanying caption humorously stated, “Anushka Sharma’s husband TV show debut.” The post elicited a variety of amusing responses, with some users describing the likeness between the actor and Virat as “frightening.”

One comment noted, “This is no joke. The first time I saw the Doğan Bey character on Ertuğrul, I thought, what’s Kohli doing in a Turkish series? The resemblance is uncanny.” Another user quipped, “Nepotism is getting out of hand.” A different comment expressed disbelief, stating, “Don’t tell me he is NOT Virat but someone else. Wow!!!” Another user humorously referred to him as “Turkish Kohli.” Yet another remarked, “The resemblance is striking.”

While Virat Kohli has appeared in numerous advertisements, he has yet to make a film appearance. Recently, during the IPL 2025 opening ceremony, he was seen dancing to the song "Jhoome Jo Pathaan" alongside Shah Rukh Khan, performing the signature dance move. At present, Anushka Sharma is taking a hiatus from her film career. Her most recent appearance was in the movie Zero, where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Although filming has concluded, the release date has not yet been revealed.
