A photograph has been circulating since New Year's Day, depicting actor Shah Rukh Khan, his wife and interior designer Gauri Khan, along with their son and aspiring filmmaker Aryan Khan, as they engage in prayers at Mecca. Nevertheless, the reality behind this widely shared image is different.

Fake picture alert

In the image, Gauri Khan is depicted wearing a black kurti and a grey hijab, smiling at Shah Rukh, who appears serious in a white kurta, positioned in front of her. Behind Gauri, Aryan is visible, also dressed in a white kurta, gazing at Shah Rukh. The backdrop features locations from Mecca.

According to the report, the widely circulated image of the Khan family in Mecca is allegedly fabricated. It has reportedly been produced using Deepfake or other forms of Artificial Intelligence technology. While numerous social media platforms asserted the authenticity of the image, many users highlighted that it is, in fact, AI-generated.

What Gauri had said about Shah Rukh's religion

In the second season of the chat show Koffee with Karan, aired in 2005, Gauri expressed to host and close friend Karan Johar, “There exists a balance. I hold Shah Rukh's faith in high regard, but that does not imply that I would convert to Islam. I do not subscribe to that belief. Each person is unique and adheres to their own faith. Naturally, there must be mutual respect. Shah Rukh would never show disrespect towards my religion, and I would reciprocate that respect.”

Shah Rukh and Gauri commenced their relationship in their native Delhi during the late 1980s and were married in 1991. They are the parents of three children: Aryan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan.

Aryan is preparing to make his directorial debut with a Netflix India series reportedly titled Stardom, which focuses on the intricacies of the Hindi film industry. The project is being produced by Shah Rukh and Gauri's production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, and is said to feature actors such as Bobby Deol and Mona Singh, among others.

In the meantime, Shah Rukh is set to appear in Siddharth Anand's crime drama King, where he will share the screen with Suhana. The film is scheduled for release in theatres next year.
